What is Jiaogulan?
Jiaogulan is a plant grown in the Southern China, also known as Gynostemma Pentaphyllum. It's a popular herb mostly consumed as tea. Due to the fact it contains many chemical compounds that are also found in ginseng, it's also often known as: five-leaf ginseng, poor man’s ginseng, or southern ginseng.

Jiaogulan Side Effects
Pregnancy: Jiaogulan might be possibly unsafe during pregnancy and breastfeeding period. There's not enough known about the use of this herb during such period. It's therefore recommend to stay on the safe side and avoid the use of this herb.
Bleeding disorders: If you suffer from any kind of bleeding disorders, you should not consume this herb. The reason is that Gynostemma might slow blood clotting. It should therefore be also avoided 2 weeks before surgery.
