Huang Shan Mao Feng Green Tea

This is the tea served to foreign visitors by the Chinese Foreign Affairs office. Considered a national treasure, Huang Shan Mao Feng is famous for its clean, needle-like shape with small white hairs. Its resemblance to the peaks of Huang Shan (Yellow Mountain) gives this tea its English name, Huang Mountain Fur Peak. Refreshing and delicious with a taste of floral sweetness.

A green that I actually like!

Subtle sweet combined with a slightly creamy texture, not overpoweringly vegetal, not like grassy water. :) which I often find disappointing of lower quality greens.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this mao feng tea. Hands down my favorite tea at Teasenz. Jasmine tea is usually my go-to tea and this just blew away every other jasmine tea I've had out of the water. The flavor is very full and smooth yet not overpowering.

It gives me that little boost I need after lunch without feeling guilty about the a full spoon of creamer I put into my coffee. I steeped this mao feng tea according to the temperature guidelines. However, i brewed it less than 2 minutes because I prefer a lighter taste.

I'm not a tea expert, but I have tried a few different green teas and I thoroughly enjoyed this huang shan mao feng. Just steep it only 45-60 seconds, and you'll get a nice, light, vegetative tea. It's not too strong or overpowering, but it does have a great subtle flavour. I would recommend steeping it a few seconds longer if you prefer a stronger taste though. The Mao Feng tea is a solid choice. Review by Mary T. (Posted on 3/31/2013)
