What are the health benefits of Bi Luo Chun Green Tea?

Bi Luo Chun, like other types of Green Tea, helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, dental cavities, kidney stones, and cancer, while improving bone density and cognitive function. In addition, it boosts metabolism and has significant slimming effects. Its unique aromatic flavor also brings unusual calming effects.

How to steep Bi Luo Chun Green Tea?

Bi Luo Chun is extremely delicate and tender, thus it should be prepared with warm water. Apply 3-4 g Bi Luo Chun tea leaves to an uncovered ceramic teapot, add 1/3 teapot of 70 - 80°C hot water and brew for 30-40 seconds, then add 2/3 teapot 60°C hot water and brew for 20-30 seconds. Bi Luo Chun can generally be brewed for up to 3 times. For optimal taste, refill around 70% full of hot water when one-third of the first brew remains.

Which region of China is Bi Luo Chun from?

Bi Luo Chun is grown in Dong Ting Mountain in Tai Lake, Jiang Su Province in eastern China. The East Mountain, a peninsular in Lake Tai, and the West Mountain, an island in the lake, together form the Dong Ting Mountain. Perfect climate, soil and precipitation work together to make Dong Ting Mountain an ideal place for tea trees. For hundreds of years, Dong Ting farmers grow tea trees side by side with fruit trees, giving Bi Luo Chun its famous floral fruity aroma.

I've been introduced to the magnificent world of Chinese tea on a training trip to China recently. I'm now very fond of different Chinese teas. Bi Luo Chun green tea tastes wonderful and never fail to put a smile on my face as I take in the aroma before indulging in it. (Posted on 10/25/2015)

I'm not the biggest fan of greens, but I just wanted to give it another try with this Bi Luo Chun. The leaves are curly, soft, and downy. It kind of smells vegetal that kind of worried me, but...

The taste: super delicious, light vegetal, after taste sweet and a little bit of nutty notes. I steeped the first cuppa at 80 C for 1.5 minutes and the second at 85 C for 2.5 minutes. The nuttiness was less present in the second and third steep, while the sweetnes moved to the foreground. An interesting tea! (Posted on 6/25/2015)

Just brewed a cup of this today afternoon in my gaiwan applying short steeps. The smell is reminds me of melon. It's lovely sweet and also fresh and green as I expected from a Spring harvest. It's interesting how big of a difference this can make. (Posted on 6/25/2015)

I bought this tea because I loved the appearance. The tea that arrived looks exactly the same as the picture, which you can't say of all merchants online. They're small leaves, slightly twisted with a white layer of soft hairs. What surprised me is that I could steep so much tea out of it, while it looks so delicate. I serve this tea when we've our weekly Asian cooking night. (Posted on 6/25/2015)

After opening the good looking aluminum pouch, I was amazed by how beautiful the leaves of this Bi Luo Chun looks. They're really pretty green with those white fuzzy hairs. I steeped it for about 1.5 minutes for my first cup. The liquor is light green/yellowish and it reminded me somehow of white wine. The leaves look so delicate after steeping that I almost wanted to eat them, but I resisted. (Posted on 6/25/2015)

I was completely blown away. This tea was an eye-opener for me, because I had been drinking green tea bags from the supermarket. I really had no idea that real green tea could taste so delicious. Differently from the steeping instructions, I used more leaves, but steeped it for shorter duration and used only 200 ml water per brew. This works for me, and the good thing is that I can steep up to 6 steeps, which I think is good value for me. (Posted on 6/25/2015)
